Any educated person will tell you that aphrodisiacs don’t exist. Fortunately, I’m not that educated. Not like Dr. Winnifred Cutler, who has a Ph.D. in Biology from Penn, did postdoctoral behavioral endocrinology research at Stanford, and now sells a patented “horny formula” called Athena Pheromone 10X.
About Athena for Men
Athena for Men is a product that has been in production for 15 years. Dr. Winnifred B. Cutler actually developed this product in 1995 and it has continued to be sold worldwide since the product was first developed. It formulated to help increase attraction and intimacy when you from the opposite sex.
“In 1986, with colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania,” explains Dr. Cutler on her web site, “I discovered that sexually active young men produce pheromones.”
Duration
When used normally, usually Athena for Men will last for six hours. In cases where there is heavy smoking or a lot of sweating, this product may not last long at all due to breakdown and masking of pheromones. Athena is oil based and best applied on pulse points like the neck and wrist. Duration can be subjective and vary per individual. Some users have reported the product lasts far less than what was thought to be six hours.
The Good and Bad
Doing your homework is a good idea before purchasing any pheromone product. One of the good things about the Athena Institute is the company has been in business a long time and manufactures a legitimate pheromone product. They’ve been aound since 1993 and the product has been in production since 1995. Athena has been featured on television shows, such as on ABC’s 20/20 news program. However, there are a few downsides to consider as well. In many cases, the results of this product have been inconsistent and the product is very expensive offering less than a 30 day supply. The effectiveness of Athena pheromones has been subject to debate with some people who swear by them and many who have been frustrated with inconsistent results.
Key Pheromones
Several pheromones are included in Athena for Men. The three main active pheromones include androstenol, androsterone, and androstenone. These are all proven pheromones and have been used extensively in leading pheromone products. However, the company does not appear to offer information on the concentration of their pheromone formula.
Personal Experience
The first thing that hit me when I decided to check out Athena for Men myself was the price. At $95 for a small bottle, this is one of the most expensive pheromones per milligram and needs to be replenished within a matter of weeks if used daily. When the bottle arrived, it was smaller than I thought it would be and I felt like I’d been given an inadequate supply.
We decided to evaluate our new pheromone at a club one night to see how it was really going to work. One problem was that by the time I got to the club that night, I already felt like the product was wearing off. I applied a bit more to be sure I had enough on. Through the night I noticed a subtle increase in attraction from women. I was expecting women to loosen up a little more around me and become more chatty and hopefully flirtatious. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to close any deals and pick up any women. I danced a few times with a few gals, but women weren’t coming up to me in droves – I had to go to them. To be fair, it could have been a bad batch or perhaps I didn’t use it properly. I was a bit surprised they didn’t offer a money back guarantee. More testing is needed.
Conclusion
Dr. Winfred Cutler is well-respected biologist and pioneer in the research of human pheromones and while her pheromone formula does provide a strong dose of pheromones (15 mg), opinions and results have been mixed. The pheromones market has grown fierce since she first introduced her patented pheromones.

Appreciate your review and Just wanted to point out a few errors in your product information for Athena Pheromone 10Xtm for men. Athena Pheromones are not oil based, but the trade secret formula is alcohol based and intended to be mixed with 2-3 ounces of one’s favorite fragrance. So it’s concentrated 1/6 ounce vial when mixed as directed should last up to 4-6 months when worn daily (the price is $99.50) and since the products are not guaranteed to work for everyone; the studies proved 74% efficacy, they will work for most when used as directed.
Science’s “gold standard” test of whether a product works is called a double-blind, placebo-controlled study. Our two products have been tested in 3 such studies—which were published in peer-reviewed, respected scientific journals and presented to professional societies. No other pheromone product, or any cosmetic, is tested this way. And as you point out, Dr. Winnifred Cutler is the scientist who co-discovered human pheromones in 1986, and she developed Athena Pheromones in 1993 and 1995. She is a research biologist who is consistently invited to present her research to academic and medical organizations. She has published 40 papers and 8 books on women’s health.
Athena Pheromones are overrated.
